Well, I figured I would try my hand at an HD repaint of the 280FX for FSX... Everything (well about 90%) has been re-textured and custom bump and spec have been created Here are some screenshots.

NavAir130, very nice work! May I ask what resolution the textures are? If you'd like, we could put the HD paintkit up as a download on this site for others to enjoy. Wink (with proper credit, of course)

RE: FSX 280FX HD Repaint (Very Large Pics)
Brandon,

Well, My PSD's are nowhere near organized enough to release as of yet. I always start out with the intention of "this one will be good enough to release and by the 1,000th layer its all gone to a mess of folders layers and efx." But what I can do for the time being is do up 5 or 6 textures you can release as a sort of "HD redux" or service pack (or just a complete re-release). Also if you are looking for 222 help let me know. BTW my email is jonblue[at]mac.com that would be the best way to get a hold of me. As for the texture res they are 4096x4096. The reason for this is because the body is all one piece. I'm not sure what makes for better results more texture files at a smaller size or fewer files at a larger size but it maybe something to think about. Personally I do all mt textures huge, I have a very solid rig and don't notice any FPS drop (and its a laptop if you can imagine -- mac rules) Let me know if anything sounds good to you.

-Jon

RE: FSX 280FX HD Repaint (Very Large Pics)
Hi Jon,

4096x4096 textures are not a problem. We would like it if there was an HD paintkit available, so if you ever get around to compressing your PSD down to only several layers, let us know. If you'd like to do some new HD repaints, feel free. We'll do a V2/update for the Enstrom eventually, and we could include a few more liveries/models.

The less textures, the better. The fewer textures, the more that HD textures will not be an issue. We didn't map the Enstrom, so it's probably not a good example of a performance optimized model, but HD textures shouldn't be an issue for most, especially considering that if they are running FSX, their computer will likely be able to handle them with reasonable FPS.

We can email each other to discuss anymore details. You can reach me at bfiler[at]eaglerotorcraftsimulations[dot]com.

Best Regards,
Brandon
